WNF A fresh call for webinar proposals (as a COVID-19 response) Deadline August 31

It is commonly understood that we are unable to organise WNF programs as we did in the past. No more class room sessions or factory visits. With that in mind, some of the Societies have suggested that the WNF fund should be available for webinars. We thought it was a good idea, and laid the ground for the changes necessary to be made.

We have decided to go back to square one, and make a new invitation for program proposals. We ask you to submit webinar proposals for FY2020, by using the forms attached herewith. The deadline has been set on August 31. There may be a second round of proposal acceptance in the second half of this financial year ending in March 2021, depending on the concurrent extent of global spread of the pandemic. You may propose a conventional program featuring class room sessions and factory visits at that time.

Below lists the changes applicable to webinars only.

1) The amount of payment for lecture-related compensation (alternatively referred to as "honorarium") is set at US$25 per hour. If a 6-hour lecture is given for the day, the lecture(s) is (are) entitled to US$150, a leap from US$100 per day applicable to a now unavailable "seminar" program.

2) Multiple topics can be taught by different lecturers within a day. If three lecturers are called for the day, each of them is entitled to
US$50 for their 2-hour lecture.

3) A program has a maximum length of 5 days combined. This allows the host AAS to split the sprint into several parts. It may be the case that the first segment of 3 days and the second one of 2 days are organized at an interval of, say, three weeks for comparative studies.

4) On a request basis, a maximum of US$1000 shall be paid to subsidize a host Society to purchase equipment and platforms, necessary to host the webinar. The payment will be made after validating the evidence collected (one time only for the year).
