The India IP SME Helpdesk is a free of charge first-line service whose focus is to improve the awareness, management, and protection of IP assets by EU and associated SMP (Single Market Programme) countries SMEs that operate or intend to access the Indian market towards improving their global competitiveness.

With this aim, the Helpdesk supports EU SMEs that have commercial or R&D relations with India or wish to establish themselves in the region or have potential trade interest in India. The Helpdesk provides expert advice on how to protect and enforce SMEs’ Intellectual Property (IP) in or relating India.

The India IP SME Helpdesk is an initiative of the European Commission.

Training events and webinars

The India IP SME Helpdesk offers on-site and online training activities that cover relevant IP topics for EU/SMP SMEs and entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses to India: from basic principles and ideas about the benefits of Intellectual Property for SMEs to specific tools and procedures for managing IP rights in India. During and after the live and online sessions, the participants will have the opportunity to ask any question you may have directly to our IP experts.

IP content

The Helpdesk offers state-of-the-art publications (factsheets, infographics, case studies, videos) on the protection and enforcement of IPR in India specifically addressing IP matters from the SME business needs point of view.

IP Diagnostic Tool

This toolkit helps SMEs analyse their level of preparedness and knowledge in IP (IP protection, IP internationalization and commercialization, IP practice) and identify the relevant aspects on which they may need further information.

IP Cost Tool

This tool provides EU SMEs with a reliable overview of costs involved with the registration of IP assets in India.
