InvestNorthWest presents comprehensive online information about the Bulgarian North-West planning region, comprising the districts of  Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech and Pleven. The purpose of the site is to regularly supply relevant data to foreign companies and investors, wishing to explore business and investment opportunities in this area.

The information is entirely managed and updated by each of the 51 municipal authorities from the region. In addition to the general economic and investment profile of Bulgaria, here you can explore the local infrastructure, economy, culture, tourism and leisure opportunities.

Companies from the region are presented with their profiles and potential investment projects. The municipalities can also upload their specific ideas. In the Downloads section, plenty of additional information about the local territorial units is presented.

The present web site is developed in the framework of project BG0026 “Strengthening the capacity of the local authorities of the North-West planning region of Bulgaria for attracting foreign investors, institutional support for investments and IT solutions for administrative services” (InvestNorthWest), supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism. It was submitted in 2008 under the “Human Resource Development” priority and assigned in the data base of the EEA and Norway grants projects for the period 2004-2009 to the “Regional Policy and Cross-Border Activities” category.

Project promoter is Bulgaria Economic Forum. The project is implemented in partnership with the network association ScanBalt comprising organizations in the Baltic Sea Region, incl. Norway and Iceland. Target groups are the local authorities in the Bulgarian North-West planning region - the district governments of the districts of Lovech, Montana, Pleven, Vidin and Vratsa, and the municipalities in the region.

The overall objective of the project is to increase the level of foreign investment and to improve the business climate in the North-West planning region of Bulgaria. The purpose of the project is to raise the competences of the local administration for attracting foreign investment (focus on innovation) and institutional support for investors (focus on linkages with local SMEs and clusters), and IT usage for better provision of services.
