BCCI hosted high level Bulgaria – Cyprus Business Forum

On 23rd February 2016, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a Bulgaria – Cyprus Business Forum with the participation of the heads of state of the two countries – Rosen Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria and Nicos Anastasiades, President of the Republic of Cyprus.
 
The Vice-President of BCCI Georgi Stoev welcomed the participants and said that regional cooperation was key to the development of the two countries which have long been working successfully on markets in the region, developing joint projects, and sharing investments. Mr. Stoev said that the main goal of the Forum was to find new niches, markets and projects of mutual interest for the Bulgarian and Cypriot companies. 
 
President Plevneliev addressed more than 100 representatives of the business and governments of the two countries who were present at the forum and stressed that BCCI’s long history and influence in the field of Bulgarian business and economy would help find new business horizons for cooperation between companies. He stressed that Cyprus as a center for business in the region is a close and friendly country for Bulgaria. 
 
The President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades stressed the spheres of mutual interest and common goals between Bulgaria and Cyprus. He said that the bilateral cooperation agreements in the field of commerce, investment, energy, regional development, and agriculture, signed the previous day were a natural step in the development of the economic and trade relations between the two countries.
The co-organizers of the Forum – the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry also expressed their satisfaction with the excellent bilateral cooperation. 
 
Presentations were made by Lyuben Petrov, Deputy Minister of Economy of Bulgaria and Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus. Business and investment opportunities in Bulgaria and Cyprus were outlined.
