BCCI's position on the proposal in a Report of EP - Robots to be recognized as electronic personalities

Position of the President of BCCI:

BCCI believes that there is no reason to introduce new special taxes, even if it is for the product of smarter machines. And at the time, the end result of a robot machine is taxed.

Special insurance cover of potential damage caused by the robots can be provided by insurance companies if the companies consider that those under the general insurance are not appropriate. And now the Civil Law by the so called Producer Responsibility may engage the manufacturers of robots with similar types of sanctions.

If people do not want to be replaced by robots, they must not only maintain their skills, but also raise it so that they would not be replaced by robots.

However, if this is necessary because of the higher productivity of the machines and for the chance to work in a hostile environment, it should not be linked to the burdens for entrepreneurs who want to introduce innovations and use human resource for even more creative activities.

The opposite would mean to stop progress on the one hand, to limit and discourage people to training and make it more profitable to allow people to work in dangerous conditions rather than robots.

Eventually, the initiators of these measures, in fact, play the role of the well-known Lyons weavers in history who were breaking the looms because they generated unemployment.

I would be delighted if I see these people make efforts to reduce bureaucracy and the subjective factor in the European Administration, where there is enormous scope for the application of "electronic systems" for management.

The released highly intelligent human resource could easily find application in areas with a more direct effect on the European economy, where there is a huge shortage of creative personnel – in the information-communication technologies, industry, and agriculture.
