BCCI participates in a Conference on "Sustainable Industry in the context of Circular Economy" in Košice

Opportunities for cooperation of Bulgarian companies in international projects of the Slovak steel manufacturers are discussed

The Vice-President of BCCI Georgi Stoev participated in a Conference on "Sustainable Industry in the context of Circular Economy" in Košice on 12 – 13 September at the invitation of the Slovak Presidency.

As Chairman of the Trade and Investment Committee of EUROCHAMBRES, Georgi Stoev visited the steel plant in the city and met with the company’s Vice-President Miroslav

KIRAĽVARGA. They discussed opportunities for cooperation of Bulgarian companies in international projects of the Slovak steel manufacturers. Georgi Stoev introduced the Slovak colleagues to the potential of the Bulgarian company Steel Industry AD – Pernik and the plants in Radomir, as well as to the efforts to overcome the difficulties and fight unemployment in the sector.

During the conference, the Vice-President of BCCI proposed a joint portal to be established for exchange of information and sharing of best practices between the chambers of commerce.

Applying the concept of circular economy will allow for 170 000 new jobs to be opened in Europe by 2030, according to the reports. Every year Europe suffers losses of around 600 million tons waste materials, which can be recycled and reused.

The delegates considered the proposed measures for development of the European circular economy and discussed the proposals made.
