Bulgarian-Iraqi Business Forum - opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, construction and tourism sectors

The forum was opened by Tsvetan Simeonov, BCCI President, who welcomed the interest of the Kurdistan business to the Bulgarian economy




The Bulgarian-Iraqi business forum was organized by the BCCI in cooperation with the Kurdistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Association for Friendship Kurdistan – Bulgaria. The event was attended by over 25 companies, members of the Chambers of Erbil, Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah (Iraqi Kurdistan), active in the fields of construction, agriculture, food industry, cosmetic industry, electrical engineering and general trade.
 
The forum was opened by Tsvetan Simeonov, BCCI President, who welcomed the interest  of Kurdistan business in the Bulgarian economy and encouraged stakeholders to develop bilateral cooperation, stating that the most powerful weaponof peace is trade.
Soran Azeez, Vice-President of the Kurdistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce - Erbil, also congratulated the forum participants for their interest and thanked the BCCI for their hospitality. He noted that there are opportunities and need for cooperation especially in the sectors of agriculture, construction and tourism, stressing that Kurdistan is the safest and secure region of Iraq and that there are already dozens of Bulgarian companies that operate there.
 
Mr. Othman Fattah - a member of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce in Sulaimaniya, spoke  for Kurdish Chambers. He has  presented the development of business sectors in the cities of Syuleyumaniya and Dohuk, pointing out that the strongest growth is in agriculture, metallurgy and especially in the oil industry, which reaches production of 600,000 barrels per day.
