H.E. Stefan Gorda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Bulgaria, visited BCCI and met with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov. Priorities for bilateral economic cooperation and partnership with the Bulgarian Commercial and Economic Section in Chisinau were outlined.
H.E. Stefan Gorda said that the signing of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement provides many new opportunities and highlighted the role of Bulgaria as an advocate of the EU membership of countries in the region and Moldova in particular.
The Ambassador also informed about joint initiatives for cooperation between Bulgaria and Moldova, citing the Bulgarian – Moldovan forum presentation “Foods and Beverages from Sunny Bulgaria” which was held in Chisinau.
Investment opportunities in the two countries were also discussed during the meeting. Tsvetan Simeonov outlined the advantages of starting a business in Bulgaria – highly qualified labour force, low energy prices, favourable taxation and free economic zones.
The idea and procedure for establishing a Moldova – Bulgaria Business Council was also discussed, and the possibility to mutually offer Bulgarian and Moldovan products in third markets, with an emphasis on winemaking. The annual Balkan Wine Forum would contribute to such cooperation. The forum is organized with the assistance of BCCI, traditionally in May.
BCCI announced that it is preparing Bulgaria – Moldova Business Forum, during which investment opportunities in the two countries will be presented, as well as the possibility to participate in privatization processes in Moldova.
