The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov had a meeting with Greg O’Connor, Regional Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, accredited for Serbia and Croatia. Peter Delin, Budget Analyst at the U.S. Embassy in Sofia also took part in the meeting.
The aim of Mr. O’Connor’s visit to BCCI was to get acquainted with the varied activity of the Chamber in support of Bulgarian business and the opportunities to expand the cooperation between the two countries. The President of BCCI introduced the Senior Commercial Officer with the activity of the Chamber and its participation in a number of international organizations.
The guests were especially interested in BCCI’s accreditation from the ICC WCF for issuance of Certificates of Origin, its Unified Trade Register, the types of membership in the Chamber, and consultations it provides in support of business and economic development, as the largest Bulgarian employers’ organization. Mr. Simeonov outlined the advantages of the Arbitration Court at BCCI, presented the activity of GS1 Bulgaria, and the Chamber’s successful partnership with international organizations and in particular with the International Chamber of Commerce – Paris (ICC).
Another topic of discussion was the excellent cooperation between BCCI and the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) and the Bulgarian – American Trade and Economic Council with BCCI (BATEC). The good collaboration of BCCI with the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria was also pointed out, and desire was expressed to expand the cooperation opportunities, which include exchange of economic information, joint promotion of the bilateral commercial relations, organizing future events and business forums together.
