The General Assembly of the Association of the Balkan Chambers took place in Bucharest

The forum was focused on the enhancement and coordination of the investment policies in the Balkan region

On November 17 in Bucharest was organized the General Assembly of the Association of the Balkan Chambers (АВС). Host of the forum was Mr. Mihai Daraban, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, a rotary Chairman of the ABC in 2016. Participants in the event were presidents and representatives of the chambers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, FYROM, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro. The BCCI was presented by the President Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov.

During the meeting a report was delivered on the legal framework regulating the activities of the ABC chambers, the benefits and drawbacks of the two types of membership – the compulsory and the voluntary. The President of the BCCI outlined the advantages of the Bulgarian model of voluntary membership.

The participants discussed the opportunities for coordination of policies aimed at attracting direct foreign investments in the Balkans, as a precondition for more dynamic economic growth of the region. They identified the common priority projects for the Balkan region, which will be brought to the attention of EUROCHAMBRES.

A decision was made the General Assembly of the ABC to be organized twice per year – in March and in November.

In 2017 the rotary chairmanship of the ABC will be taken by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.
