BCCI’s President Tsvetan Simeonov and Vice-President Georgi Stoev took part in the 121st Plenary Assembly of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) and a regular meeting of the Board of Directors in Brussels.
The Plenary Assembly was opened by Richard Weber, President of EUROCHAMBRES. The main topics of discussion were the integration of refugees into the labour market and the role of the business, Brexit and its impact on the European economy. EUROCHAMBRES’ position-paper on Brexit is available HERE.
The President of BCCI made a statement on the unity of the members of EUROCHAMBRES which concerns the need of more active work with the members, keeping existing ones and attracting new members of the organization, and was supported by the Secretary General of EUROCHAMBRES Arnaldo Abruzzini and the candidate for the next President - Christoph Leitl. Preserving the unity in the system of chambers of commerce, the need to research the status of the members of the Association, and reforms in the activity in EUROCHAMBRES in compliance with the needs of the members were identified as basic measures.
The invitation of BCCI to host the 123rd Plenary Assembly of EUROCHAMBRES in June 2018 during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU was accepted. Information about the initiative will be circulated additionally.
The future initiatives of the Association were also discussed, including the EUROCHAMBRES Economic Forum which will take place on 26-27 October 2017 in Barcelona and will bring together representatives of national, regional and local chambers to discuss practical and innovative services for organizations and businesses.
