Bulgarian – Korean Business Forum on “Conditions for investment and business in Bulgaria” was held in Sofia. The event was organized by KOTRA, the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bulgaria and Republic of Korea, with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria.
The forum was opened by H.E. Shin Boonam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in Sofia. The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Demographic Policy Valeri Simeonov gave a speech at the event. He told the forum participants that “Korea is one of the economic wonders of the world and Bulgaria is open and hopeful for partnership with the Korean business. Besides, Korea can share experience in the field of innovation for us to learn from”.
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov also greeted the participants and confirmed that the forum is a logical step after the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria in the fall of 2017. Another positive results of the visit is the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea which aims to promote the bilateral economic relations. He also presented the services of BCCI, which are of use not only to the local but also to the foreign businesses.
The Executive Director of InvestBulgaria Agency Stamen Yanev presented the investment climate in the country. Several examples of successful trade and investment cooperation Bulgaria – Korea were given.
Representatives of nine Korean companies and more than 100 Bulgarian entrepreneurs interested in the sectors medical equipment, cosmetics, pharmacy, vehicles, polyester and nylon products, etc. took part in the forum and the accompanying business meetings.
