The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov opened a meeting at BCCI dedicated to the opportunities for doing business with Portugal and in particular with the city of Santa Maria da Feira. The event was organized in cooperation with the Municipality of the Portuguese city, the Bulgarian – Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Embassy of Portugal in Sofia. The Mayor of Targovishte Dr. Dobrin Dimitrov also took part in the meeting. Santa Maria da Feira and Targovishte have been twin towns since 2002.
The President of BCCI reiterated the Chamber’s position on the benefits of EU integration. “We support the European idea because together we are stronger”, Simeonov said. “We want to make United Europe an even better place for living and doing business. It is no coincidence that a EU Club has been established and functioning at the Chamber, which holds regular meetings and discussions dedicated to the Presidency of each individual country of the Council of the EU”, Simeonov concluded.
The Mayor of Municipality Santa Maria da Feira Emídio Sousa also took part in the meeting. He outlined the most important characteristics of the economy in the region of Santa Maria da Feira and presented the industry in the region – production of cork caps and other cork products, insulations, paper, footwear, foodstuff, metallurgical and electromechanical goods, agriculture.
H.E. Helena Margarida Rezende de Almeida Coutinho, Ambassador of Portugal in Bulgaria, introduced the participants in the meeting to the country’s business and economic achievements.
The Deputy President of the Bulgarian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce Stanimir Mihaylov, and Anna Dimitrova, Expert from Sofia Investment Agency also addressed the participants.
The meetings of the Mayor of Municipality Santa Maria da Feira continued with other institutions in Sofia and Targovishte.
