Visit of an Indonesian business delegation from the Regional Representatives Council of the Republic of Indonesia

A delegation from the Regional Representatives Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD – RI) visited BCCI and met with the Secretary General Vasil Todorov and the Directors of directorates at the Chamber.

The Regional Representatives Council is one of the two parliamentary chambers in Indonesia, which has the task of providing advice and opinions on bills to the People’s Representative Council (DPR). The delegation included representatives of the provinces of Papua, Sulawesi, Aceh, Java and Komodo island.

The delegation was led by GKR. Ayu Koes Indriyah, who presented the role and functions of the Council and said that its most important task is the development of the separate regions of Indonesia. She expressed her support for Bulgaria’s vision to become a bridge between Asia and Europe and said that over the last 15 years there has been an increase in the bilateral trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Indonesia.

During the meeting, the potential sectors for cooperation between Bulgaria and Indonesia in the field of production, machine building, food industry, renewable energy, construction, etc. were discussed.

Vasil Todorov said that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, there is great potential in the bilateral relations and this is evident from the interest of the business. In recent years, BCCI together with the Indonesian Embassy in Sofia, has organized a number of events to promote business and investment opportunities. The Secretary General of the Chamber presented the Bulgarian economy and the leading sectors, the place of the country in the international rankings, as well as the role and functions of BCCI. He emphasized the fact that institutional support for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries is particularly important and expressed hope that the good contacts between Bulgaria and Indonesia will continue.
