On 5 September, in Sofia, a Bulgaria – India Business Forum with bilateral meetings was held. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has long-standing partners in India such as the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Corporate Catalyst India (CCI), etc. During the forum, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov and the Chairman, International Affairs-Central Europe Committee of PHD Chamber Mr. Mohit Jain signed a Memorandum of Understanding. BCCI has been working in cooperation with PHD Chamber since 2012 when, during a business visit to Delhi, first talks were held – both on chamber level, as well as bilateral business meetings between the participants in the Bulgarian business delegation and Indian partners.
More than 300 business representatives from both countries took part in the forum organized by the Bulgarian SME Promotion Agency.
At the opening of the forum, speeches were delivered by the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economy Lachezar Borisov and Mr. K.S. Kumar, Head of the Indian business delegation and Chief Commercial Officer of company Sutherland.
Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) also signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The forum was organized on the occasion of the official visit to Bulgaria of the President of India. The event was closed by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the President of the Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind.
