The upward trend of Bulgaria’s trade with Cyprus continues

Discussion of ideas with H.E. Marios Kountouridis for the development of the bilateral economic relations


The newly appointed Ambassador of Cyprus to Bulgaria H.E. Marios Kountouridis visited the BCCI and met with the Chamber’s President Tsvetan Simeonov. During the meeting, ideas for common plans for the development of the bilateral economic relations were exchanged.

Simeonov presented the activities of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its structure and management. He also presented the Ambassador with up-to-date information on Bulgaria's economic development and forthcoming major economic events.

During the conversation, BCCI’s excellent cooperation with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry was discussed. For the continuation of this interaction, a constant exchange of up-to-date information on the development of the economies of both countries, joint activities and promotion of the business activity was agreed upon.

According to information from the Ministry of Economy in the first half of 2018, the trade turnover amounted to EUR 126.7 million, marking a growth of 135.4%. Bulgarian exports to Cyprus amounted to EUR 50 million, with an increase of 39.9%. Imports amounted to EUR 76.6 million, an increase of 324.6% compared to the same period in 2017. The data point to a continuation of the upward trend from 2017.
