Honorary Diploma of BCCI for the Japanese Ambassador in Bulgaria H.E. Masato Watanabe





The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented H.E. Masato Watanabe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Bulgaria with an Honorary Diploma on the occasion of the end of his term of office in our country.

H.E. Masato Watanabe was honored for his active collaboration with the Chamber and for his contribution to the development of the economic cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and Japan. During his term of office in the country, a visit of the Prime Minister of Japan H.E. Mr. Shinzō Abe to Bulgaria took place in 2018, together with a meeting between the management of the nationally representative employers’ organizations and the members of the Japanese delegation; a visit of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev to Japan in 2019; as well as a meeting aiming to promote the investment cooperation between Bulgarian and Japanese companies, with the participation of President Radev, earlier this year. The establishment of a Japanese – Bulgarian Business Association involving large Japanese investors was also announced.

Since the very beginning of Ambassador Watanabe’s term of office in Sofia in September 2017, the Japanese Embassy and BCCI, with the participation of the Bulgarian – Japanese Economic Council at the Chamber, have been regularly exchanging information on the opportunities provided by the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, organizing joint lectures with leading Japanese and Bulgarian professors and scholars, and presentations of the investment opportunities in both countries, business forums and seminars.
