BCCI: Bulgaria’s entry into ERM II is a positive and significant fact for the country

Bulgaria’s entry into the Exchange Rate Mechanism II is a positive and significant fact for the country. This opinion was expressed by Vasil Todorov, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), in “The world is business” show on BloombergTV.

“We had identified 3 national priorities that are possible and achievable at the moment - our admission to the Schengen Area, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and ERM II. One of these goals has been achieved, so this is an extremely positive fact for the economy. It is now in our hands to follow these rules, because entering the Euro Area’s waiting room does not mean that we just have to wait a deadline.”

Todorov explained that Bulgaria’s entry into ERM II is an indisputable guarantee and signal for investors. Considering the whole package of opportunities on the Bulgarian market, for investors it is extremely important what the credit rating is, what the situation with the exchange rate is, with the macroeconomic stability, with the banking sector.
