New initiatives to intensify contacts between Bulgarian and Belgian companies

Upcoming visit of a high-level delegation from the Walloon Region in the autumn of this year






The Deputy President of BCCI Krasimir Dachev met with Luc Sougné, Bulgarias Honorary Consul in Wallonia, Belgium, and Plamen Bonchev, the newly appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria to Belgium. The meeting was also attended by Gabriela Dimitrova, Director International Cooperation and International Organizations” at BCCI.

The occasion for the meeting was the preparation of an upcoming high-level visit from the Walloon Region to Bulgaria in the autumn of 2020 and a business mission of Belgian companies in Sofia in the spring of 2021.

The Deputy President of BCCI Dachev acquainted the guests with the work of the Chamber and stressed that through the regional chambers of commerce and industry the organization provides services to businesses throughout the country. He highlighted the advantages of the Bulgarian economy for intense trade and economic exchange and investment cooperation between Bulgaria and Belgium.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the business forum organized in 2018 by BCCI in cooperation with the European Center for Economic, Academic and Cultural Diplomacy /CIDIC/, during which dozens of meetings between Bulgarian and Belgian companies with common interests in the field of food industry, machine building, auto parts, aviation industry, transport and logistics, consulting services, media, etc. were held. More than 60 business representatives from Bulgaria and Belgium took part in the event.

Luc Sougné provided additional information on the expected visits from Wallonia, emphasizing that there is significant interest from the local government and business of the Hainaut Province to establish direct cooperation with Bulgarian partners.
