A wide range of business cooperation opportunities with Mexico were presented at BCCI

The newly appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria to Mexico Milena Ivanova visited BCCI and talked with the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov. She explained that she will be responsible for several other countries - Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and Belize.

During the meeting, the priorities of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Central America were discussed, among which are the intensification of business relations, closer cooperation with the honorary consuls of the country in Panama and Costa Rica, as well as cultural exchange.

Tsvetan Simeonov offered cooperation in the field of contacts and relations with local business and employers’ organizations, and organization of online information events to present the opportunities for import and export between companies from Bulgaria, Mexico and neighbouring countries.

Special attention was paid to the EU – Mexico Economic Partnership, Political Coordination and Cooperation Agreement. As is well known, the Global Agreement was modernized in 2018 and is currently being approved. The fact is that Bulgarian companies still do not take full advantage of the terms of trade set out in the agreement.

Bulgarian companies have expressed interest in finding partners from Central America in the sectors: food industry, machines for the food industry, automotive industry, agriculture. Ambassador Ivanova informed that the Mexican consumers are curious and are looking for a variety of foods and beverages. She also shared that the trip to all the above-mentioned countries is visa-free and after the normalization of the epidemic situation, direct contacts between businesses are possible.
