The newly appointed Ambassador of Bulgaria to Argentina attended BCCI

Stoyan Mihaylov, Bulgaria’s newly appointed Ambassador to Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with the President Tsvetan Simeonov.

This will be Mihaylov’s second appointment at our country’s embassy in South America, after a term as Deputy Head of the mission there about 5 years ago. In 2016, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized and carried out a successful visit of Bulgarian business delegation to Argentina and Brazil, accompanying the Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev. The results of that visit have been significantly influenced by the political and economic development of the region. In 2017, bilateral trade between Bulgaria and Argentina increased by over 200%, but in the period 2019 – 2020 a decline was registered once again.

The President of BCCI presented the latest developments in the work of the Chamber and in particular the digitalized services and the opportunities for providing up-to-date information to Argentine companies interested in doing business with Bulgaria. Simeonov stressed that the Chamber of Commerce of Argentina is a serious partner of the BCCI and intends to organize online business events and meetings in 2021, which were also discussed at a meeting with H.E. Alfredo Atanasoff, Ambassador of Argentina to Bulgaria.

Tsvetan Simeonov and his guest shared the opinion that given the specifics and remoteness of the region, business visits are the most effective form of establishing serious and lasting economic relations between companies from both countries. They agreed to actively cooperate in this direction after the normalization of international travels.
