The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Institute for Management Development signed a cooperation agreement with a focus on competitiveness

BCCI and the IMD World Competitiveness Center will partner for the 2021 edition of the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook. The Yearbook is the leading annual report on the competitiveness of countries and has been published by IMD since 1989. This year, it compares the results of 64 economies based on more than 330 criteria: official statistics (2/3) and data from a survey of business leaders (1/3). The yearbook is based on 30 years of research experience. This study analyzes and ranks the capacity of countries to create and maintain an environment that supports the competitiveness of enterprises.

The survey will be conducted in the period March-April 2021 and business leaders from Bulgaria will have the opportunity to give their opinion. With the help of this initiative, Bulgarian business will assess the performance of the economy on issues related to competitiveness, as well as send an important message to the state administration.

In the 2020 report on competitiveness, Bulgaria ranks 48th out of 63 countries. The study shows that in 2020 the Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the need for the digitalization of the economy and for addressing issues related to public administration.
