H.E. Rob Dixon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Bulgaria, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov discussed with the diplomat the challenges facing both countries during the COVID-19 pandemic and after Britain's exit from the European Union.

Simeonov stressed that contacts with the UK are very important for Bulgaria, not only from an economic point of view, but also for the system of chambers of commerce and industry, as it closely follows the British model of business organization development.

The two countries cooperate in many economic areas, including tourism and investment. Ambassador Dixon noted that trade between the UK and Bulgaria, despite objective difficulties, increased in the first quarter of 2021. He expressed satisfaction that the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry regularly informs its members and partners about the changes related to Brexit. The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Bulgaria sees potential for bilateral cooperation in the long run in areas such as innovation, technology, and green energy.

The possible participation of British companies in the forthcoming business forum of the Three Seas Initiative, which will take place in Sofia on 8-9 July 2021, was also discussed.

The participants in the meeting discussed cooperation in the field of tourism, healthcare, as well as ways to improve the investment environment in Bulgaria in order to attract more British investors.
