Meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires a. i. of the Libyan Еmbassy in Sofia

Discussion of the bilateral economic relations and future steps to promote partnership and mutual trade


Mr. Moftah Dareni, Chargé d’Affaires a. i. of the Embassy of the State of Libya in Sofia, visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with its President Tsvetan Simeonov.

During the meeting, the state of the economic relations between the two countries was discussed, as well as future steps to promote partnership and mutual trade. Tsvetan Simeonov informed his guest about the good working relations between BCCI and the Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, based on a cooperation agreement signed between the two organizations in 2017.

It was agreed to organize an online business forum with the participation of entrepreneurs from both countries. BCCI will additionally inform the business community about the date of the event.

According to data of the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, in 2020 a 118% growth was registered in bilateral trade between Bulgaria and Libya, which amounted to USD 158.3 million USD. Significant growth was recorded both in Bulgarian exports (USD 131.6 million - about 81% growth), as well as in imports from Libya - USD 26.7 million. Bulgarian exports are formed mainly by wheat, wheat and rye mixture, barley, bakery products, pastries, confectionery and biscuit products (with or without addition of cocoa), and other similar products.
