Meeting with the Ambassador of China in Sofia

Opportunities for online participation in Chinese seminars and fairs




The President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tsvetan Simeonov held an online meeting with H.E. Dong Xiaojun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Bulgaria. Representatives of the team of the Embassy and the BCCI also took part in the meeting.

Tsvetan Simeonov gave a brief overview of the economic situation in the country, saying that the Chamber is ready to start working with partners from China even more actively as soon as the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted. He also informed about upcoming online initiatives that BCCI is working on with China, namely a presentation of Bulgarian companies at an online exhibition together with the Shanghai Fair in November 2021, as well as participation in an online seminar “Facilitating trade with China” for representatives the chambers of commerce and industry from the countries participating in the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.

Ambassador Dong shared that the online seminars, fairs and events are a good opportunity to meet potential partners, to get acquainted with new business strategies and to develop trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and China. He presented information on the economic situation in the country, saying that there has been a gradual recovery of key macroeconomic indicators within reasonable limits over the past 9 months, which is a sign of the stability of the Chinese economy.

Ambassador Dong also emphasized the opportunities for online participation in various Chinese fairs, including the China Import and Export Fair - Canton Fair.

BCCI and the Chinese Embassy in Sofia agreed to regularly exchange information on the economic situation in both countries, as well as on upcoming events, in order to intensify the bilateral relations in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
