A Bulgarian business delegation visited Qatar this week. The visit was organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Bulgarian - Arab Economic Chambers.
A business forum was held on the first day of the visit. The event, hosted by the local partner, was opened by H.E Mr. Mohamed Bin Ahmed Twar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that he expects a more dynamic development of the bilateral economic relations and presented the state program for economic development. It was emphasized that the program envisages diversification of economic sectors and partners. The Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry encourages the establishment of joint ventures and welcomes all foreign businessmen who want to invest in Qatar. Mr. Kuwari pointed out the benefits for foreign companies entering the country.
Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed gratitude for the long-term cooperation with the Qatar Chamber. In 2008, during a visit of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria in Qatar, the two organizations signed a co-operation agreement. In a conversation with the hosts from the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tsvetan Simeonov pointed out that the pandemic has slowed down the development of bilateral economic ties, but now it is being resumed.
The forum was also attended by Plamen Delev, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the State of Qatar, and Konstantin Nenkov, Trade and Economic Counsellor.
The President of the Association of Bulgarian - Arab Economic Chambers Mr. Ahmad Alaeddine presented the activities of his organization, established in 2020 with the assistance of the BCCI. The association is active not only in supporting business relations between Bulgaria and the Arab countries, but also promotes student exchange.
Presentations were made by the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, Sofia Investment Agency, which is part of Sofia Municipality, as well as the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University.
During the forum, numerous bilateral meetings were held between companies from the sectors of oil and chemical products, food industry, real estate, ICT, construction.
The Bulgarian delegation visited various Qatari companies.
