This is a big and secure market with more than 7 000 positions for supplies and services with guaranteed financing – noted Mr. Ivan Stoimenov, BCCI Secretary General, in his welcoming speech. He pointed out that the potential business partnership with the UN is particularly topical in a period of economic stagnation and increased competition.
According to Mr. Ivo Muskurov, Head of Economic, Financial and Budgetary-and-Administrative Affairs Department at the UN and the Global Affairs Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bulgarian business must use its logistic advantages for the registration of companies for public procurement of goods and services with the UN. This is so because most of the crisis regions where the UN performs its peacemaking activity and realizes a significant part of its projects are found on the Balkans, in the Near East and Africa.
The details and conditions for application were presented by Mrs. Wendy Noble, who is from the Public Procurement Department of the UN Secretariat . The access to the UN global market, the free registration allows the Bulgarian producers and suppliers to become visible for all of the 20 agencies in the system for participation in supply tenders . According to Mrs. Noble, preferred are firms with international exporting experience , but if the latter is not yet at hand, the respective firm will be able to become a supplier of goods and services for the UN offices for the territory of Bulgaria.
