BCCI awarded the Ambassador of Greece in Sofia with an Honorary Diploma

H.E. Dimitrios Chronopoulos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, visited BCCI and met with President Tsvetan Simeonov.

The Ambassador was presented with an Honorary Diploma on the occasion of the end of his term of office in Bulgaria. The diploma is for his contribution to the development of the economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece and for his active collaboration with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry during his term of office. Tsvetan Simeonov thanked the Ambassador for the energy he invested during his stay in Bulgaria and the ideas for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.

According to information from the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Industry, in 2021 bilateral trade registered a positive trend compared to the previous year 2020 - an increase of almost 30%, which is due mainly to an increase in imports. The trade balance remains positive for Bulgaria and amounts to EUR 220 million.

Greece ranks fourth among Bulgaria's trading partners in terms of exports, with a share of 6.6% of Bulgaria's total exports worldwide, and seventh in terms of imports, with a share of 5.3% of total imports.

Exports from Bulgaria to Greece are concentrated in several main sectors - agricultural products, energy, oils, metals and wood. A large part of the imports from Greece to Bulgaria is formed by textile materials and products, mineral and chemical products, machinery and equipment and base metals.
