Representatives of the Embassy of Iraq visited the BCCI

Representatives of the Embassy of Iraq in Sofia visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Haidar Alburiahi, adviser, and Kailan Alwan, third secretary for economic affairs, met with the President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. Topics for deepening the collaboration and working together on the memorandum signed in 2019 by BCCI and CCI Baghdad were discussed.

The diplomats announced that a new government in Iraq has been working for three months. It has drawn up a program for the development of the economic cooperation, which in the first place envisages collaboration with Iraq's friendly countries, including Bulgaria. Relations between the two countries date back many years and have a positive history.

According to information from the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Industry, the bilateral trade has been increased by 32% in the first six months of 2022. It amounts to USD 144.14 million. The trade with Iraq for 2021 is 173.3 million USD. (marks a growth of 320% compared to 2020), of which export 51.3 million USD. (a growth of 24% compared to 2020), and import marks an extraordinary growth and reaches 122 million USD, or a growth of 580% compared to 2020.
