The new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic on a working visit to BCCI

Easing the traffic at the border crossing points between the two countries in the focus of discussion

At the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a meeting was held with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Alexios Lyberopoulos, and Mr. Dimitrios Michas, Minister Plenipotentiary for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Greek Embassy in Sofia.

The President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov, on behalf of the Executive Council of BCCI, expressed condolences and sympathies to the victims of the tragic train accident in Greece and their families by handing over a letter to the Ambassador.

Simeonov introduced the guests to the activities of BCCI and explained the various levels of cooperation with partner organizations from Greece - within EUROCHAMBRES, the Association of Balkan Chambers, the BSEC Business Council, as well as in a bilateral aspect.

During the meeting, the interest of both countries to further develop the bilateral economic relations was confirmed. The President of BCCI proposed the idea of sharing experience in the tourism sector and working to create joint tourist products.

Ambassador Lyberopoulos shared, based on personal observations, that it is necessary to improve the process for crossing the border checkpoints between the two countries for cargo vehicles, which are used for the majority of trade between the two countries. More efforts are needed from Greece and Bulgaria in this area in order to facilitate the flow of people crossing the border, to complete the construction of infrastructure, as well as to open more border crossing points. The President of BCCI and his guests also discussed other opportunities for expanding cooperation in priority areas of the trade and economic relations.
