The new Bulgarian ambassador to Israel visited BCCI





Ms. Slavena Gergova, the new ambassador of Bulgaria to Israel, visited BCCI and met with the President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov. The bilateral trade and economic relations were discussed during the conversation.

Mr. Simeonov presented the good cooperation which was achieved with the Federation of the Israeli Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as with the Bulgarian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He familiarized the ambassador with the work of the Arbitration Court at BCCI and the voluntary commercial /trade/ register.

Ambassador Gergova outlined the priorities during her upcoming mandate in Israel - activation of the commercial and economic ties between the two countries. Interest related to the bilateral cooperation is observed in the fields of agriculture, water supply, military industry, high technologies, etc.

According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Economy, during the first ten months of 2022, our bilateral trade with Israel marked a drop of 16.3% compared to the same period in 2021, reaching USD 335.3 million, of which Bulgarian export - 282.7 million USD (growth of nearly 36%) and import from Israel 52.6 million USD. (a drop of 72.7%). The increase in Bulgarian export is observed due to a significant increase in petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals with a total amount of over USD 109 million.
