Delegation from Iraq visited the BCCI

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of Industry and Trade Development of Businessmen – Nineva, Iraq, held a business forum with the participation of companies from both countries.

The BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov welcomed the expected delegation, scheduled to include active companies looking for bilateral trade enhancement and joint production.

Simeonov pointed out that the Chambers of commerce from the region of Northern Iraq and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry have an established, long-lasting partnership with regular meetings aimed at finding more opportunities for commercial and investment interactions and cooperation.

The forum was attended by representatives of regional chambers of commerce, the Council for Investments at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, leading experts in the trade with Arab countries, Bulgarian manufacturers and merchants.

The head of the Iraqi delegation, Hazim Kublan, presented the companies from Mosul - a leading city in the economy of Northern Iraq. He emphasized that there is great potential and opportunities for strengthening the cooperation in the field of agriculture, food and light industry, construction, etc. "Ensuring the logistic connection between Iraq and Bulgaria by completing the new road from Iraq to Turkey to Europe will enable the expansion of trade as well. This road is part of the Silk Road and will include both a land transport line and a gas and oil pipeline." Kublan said.

The forum provided opportunity for a number of bilateral business meetings, while the economic and investment environment in Bulgaria was presented by Julian Balchev, chief secretary of the Bulgarian Investment Agency.

At the "Industrial Zones" national company, the Iraqi delegation was introduced to some to the conditions specialized economic zones in our country can offer.
