Bulgaria is among the ten largest trading partners of Georgia





Veselin Vulkanov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Georgia, visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed with the President Tsvetan Simeonov the possibilities for developing the bilateral commercial and economic relations.

Simeonov briefed the guest about his visit to Tbilisi in connection with the IOE Europe and Central Asia Regional Meeting at the end of September this year.

Ambassador Vulkanov informed the audience of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili to Bulgaria and the agreements concluded between the two countries on both bilateral and multilateral basis in connection with the decision of the European Council of June 2022 to grant Georgia a membership perspective and the prospect of receiving candidate country status.

It was noted that bilateral trade with Georgia has been developing at a great speed in recent years. Bulgaria is among the ten largest trading partners of Georgia and there’s the potential of increasing the economic and trade links between the two countries. Ambassador Valkanov declared his readiness to assist the Bulgarian business, sharing his opinion of the need for greater activity and the presentation of concrete ideas and projects.

Transport and connectivity were outlined as potential areas of bilateral cooperation. Emphasis was placed on the need for public and private institutions to join forces in connection with the opening of new routes to Asia. In this regard, an update was given on the upcoming 4th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum: Connecting Today, Resilient Tomorrow, which will be held in Tbilisi on October 26-27, 2023. The forum is organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.
