Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between ACCI & BCCI







The Presidents of Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday, 26 October, in Athens.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov visited the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry and had a productive meeting with his colleague Sofia Kounenaki Efraimoglou, President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Simeonov stressed on the excellent business and economic cooperation between the two countries and gave numerous examples for active interaction – events and meetings held this year like visit of Bulgarian companies to Freshcon Market in Thessaloniki in April, active presentation of Bulgarian businesses at the first International Exhibition for circular economy, energy and construction “Forward Green 2023“ in June, participation of Bulgaria as a guest of honor country in the Thessaloniki International Fair in September, many meetings and discussions.

The President of BCCI pointed out the crucial role of Chambers of Commerce from the two countries including the joint business organizations – the Bulgarian-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Hellenic Business Council in Bulgaria, investors and companies.

Sofia Kounenaki Efraimoglou, President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the organization established in 1841. She stated that Greece`s credit rating has been upgraded by Standard & Poor's lately. This happens for the first time since the 2010 crisis and it confirms the positive course of the Greek economy. It is a strong signal in the international markets, which can give multiple benefits in the Greek effort to accelerate the real convergence with the countries of the eurozone and certainly to create better conditions for financing and attracting investments to change our production model.  “The upgrading of Greece is indeed a window of opportunity in the future, as long as we give more oxygen to the industry, knowledge and entrepreneurship.", Efraimoglou said.

The two presidents signed a Memorandum of understanding that will stimulate further the bilateral business connections.

Dimitrios Michas, Minister Counselor of Commerce and Trade, Head of Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of Greece in Sofia was also present at the meeting. He put an accent to the next joint business event of the two chambers, planned in 2024.
