Meeting with partners from India

Discussion on joint initiatives to support the entry of Indian goods into the European market, as well as the sale of Bulgarian products in India




The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry /BCCI/ held a meeting with partners from India - Chandrakant Salunke - President of the Chamber of SMEs in India, employees of the organization, H.E. Sanjay Rana, Ambassador of India, representatives of the Embassy in Sofia and the Indian-Bulgarian Business Council.

The President of BCCI, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, made a comprehensive presentation on the Chamber’s main activities and emphasized that it has many partners in India with whom it maintains long-standing ties. The first meeting at BCCI with representatives of the Chamber of SMEs in India took place in 2008.

BCCI discussed the potential for cooperation with the partner Chamber to support the entry of Indian goods into the European market, as well as the sale of Bulgarian products in India. He proposed concrete actions for the two organizations to be undertaken, with the assistance of the diplomatic missions in Bulgaria and India, with the main aim being to achieve timely results in expanding bilateral cooperation.

Salunke introduced the Chamber of SMEs in India, an organization with a 30-year history and over 2 million members - small and medium-sized enterprises from different states of the country. The organization has also created many bilateral councils to promote its members' trade with foreign companies such as the Indian-Bulgarian Business Council.

H.E. Sanjay Rana, Ambassador of India, welcomed the interest from both countries intended for closer cooperation and emphasized that the BCCI is the main ally of the Embassy of India in Sofia regarding bilateral trade and economic issues. He wished the partners to organize more frequent face-to-face meetings and suggested exchanging business delegation visits to discuss cooperation in certain areas.
