BCCI held a virtual meeting with partners from Zimbabwe







On the initiative of the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Berlin, also accredited to Bulgaria, a virtual meeting was held with representatives of business organizations from the African country.

H.E. Ambassador Alice Mashingaidze opened the meeting with a welcome to the participants from both sides, noting the intentions of the country's government to stimulate the economy and increase the income of the population by 2030. Such events will contribute to the establishment of future contacts between the business environments of the two countries. Bulgaria has maintained economic relations with Zimbabwe since the eighties, with various agreements signed between them, including one for avoiding double taxation. For his part, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry congratulated the participants and briefly introduced the chamber with its more than 90 branch organizations and 28 regional chambers/chambers. Miroslava Markova, an expert at the Directorate of International Cooperation and International Organizations, presented the activities of the BCCI in support of business, both to Bulgarian and foreign companies. The Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA) presented the investment opportunities in the country. In 2022 - 2023 3 Bulgarian companies operate in the country with investments of about 15 million. USD in mining. Interest in Bulgarian machinery manufacturers for the textile industry is observed in Zimbabwe according to ZIDA. The country is a major producer of cotton and natural hides for the textile industry. The country produces about 60 million tons of milk, needing another 60 to cover domestic consumption. At the end, the activities of the Chamber of Commerce of Zimbabwe were presented. It was shared that the palace, together with other economic structures, is working diligently to promote the education sector, agriculture, mining industry and tourism. At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Mashingaidze thanked for the meeting and stated that he sees great potential for future cooperation with Bulgaria in education, tourism, etc.
