BCCI supports the initiative to erect a monument of the archeologist Dr. Kitov



 
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov met with the archeologist Diana Dimitrova, Head of the Initiative Committee “Monument of Archeologist Kitov”. The realization of the project now depends only on the availability of funds. Around BGN 30 thousand are necessary for the erection of the monument, and until now almost BGN 5000 were raised. 

The Chamber undertook through its website and in accordance with the established order to distribute the information that a permit has been obtained by Sofia Municipality and a place has been approved by “Architecture and Urban Planning” Directorate to build the monument on Moskovska Str., across from the Institute of Thracology. The project for the monument has been prepared and donated by the sculptor Prof. Velichko Minekov.

Architect Dimitrova is the widow of the late Dr. Georgi Kitov. She is a long-standing participant in his studies and since 2000 has been Deputy Supervisor od the excavations in Starossel, Aleksandrovo, Haskovo region, and the Valley of Thracian Kings in Kazanlak region. She has written over 50 publications about Thracian mound complexes, architecture, customs and religion. Architect Dimitrova is Chair of the Association Thracian Expedition for Tumular Investigations (TEMP) founded by Dr. Georgi Kitov.
