Charge d’Affairs of the Embassy of Guinea visited BCCI
At BCCI a meeting was held between the President of the Chamber Tsvetan Simeonov and Mr. Lamine Toure, Charge d’Affairs a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in Belgrade, who is also responsible for Bulgaria.
Mr. Toure presented investment opportunities in Guinea, noting that Bulgaria was the first country in the world to recognize Guinea’s independence back in 1958. He explained that the country is abundant in natural resources. About 80 % of the country’s profits come from export of bauxite (nearly one-third of the world reserves) and iron-ore. Diamonds, gold and oil are also extracted in the country.
The Republic of Guinea needs experts in mining, agriculture and transport. The development of agriculture is a priority for the government of Guinea – the climate and soil allow growing various types of plants (three of the largest rivers in West Africa spring in Guinea).
Mr. Simeonov introduced the guest to BCCI’s activities and said that the lack of up-to-date economic information between the two countries is a reason for the small amounts of trade over the past years.
As a first step towards activating business contacts, it was agreed that the Chamber will organize an information day on business opportunities in Guinea in late March this year. Information about the event will be announced additionally.
