BCCI believes that at this stage the usefulness of the tripartite dialogue has been compromised
The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov addressed in a letter the Chairman of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation – Mr. Simeon Djankov, the President of BICA, the Executive President of BIA “Union of the Bulgarian Business” and the Presidents of the Bulgarian Union of Private Entrepreneurs “Vuzrazdane”, the Union for Business Initiative, CEIBG and the Presidents of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and Confederation of Labour “Podkrepa”.
The letter reads as follows:
“At its meeting on 24 January 2012, the Executive Council of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) adopted a resolution to end BCCI’s participation in the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation due to the worsened climate in the tripartite dialogue.
The amendment of the criteria for employers’ organizations adopted by the Council of Ministers and voted by the National Assembly violates the freedom of cooperation and representation of such associations, guaranteed by the Constitutions of the Republic of Bulgaria and Convention 87 of the International Labour Organization. With regard to the legal change in question, the members of the Council of Ministers made announcements which undermine BCCI’s authority.
The absence of the representatives of the labour unions from the last sittings of the Committees with the NCTC and of the NCTC is also indicative of the problems in the tripartite dialogue.
Due to this, BCCI believes that at this stage the usefulness of the tripartite dialogue has been compromised.”
