Companies from Taiwan interested to cooperate in the field of tourism

Two business delegations from Taiwan will visit our country in May and June this year, the representatives of Taipei Representative Office in Greece also responsible for Bulgaria, announced during their meeting at BCCI.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simenov and the Vice-President Georgi Stoev exchanged ideas for closer economic cooperation with Agnes Hwa-Yue Chen, Representative and C.J. Lo, Director of Economic Division of the Representative Office. Litien Chen, Director of Taiwan Trade Center, Sofia and Dr. Andrey Kovatchev, Head of Bulgarian EPP delegation and Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament also took part in the meeting.

Companies from Taiwan express interest towards cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources – photovoltaic systems, food industry, and tourism.

An investor from Taiwan has already constructed a solar station in Ugarchin, Bulgaria whose power is 3,4 MW. This is an excellent example of the business opportunities provided by our country in this sector.

In Taiwan there is interest towards Bulgarian food products – yoghourt, cheese, wines. This is a sector which still has not been sufficiently developed.

Tourism (cultural and winter tourism) is another perspective field of cooperation. Since January 2001, when the citizens of Taiwan were allowed to enter the countries from the Schengen area without visas, travel has increased by 40 %.

During the meeting an invitation was extended to Bulgarian companies to visit Taiwan, especially during two specialized exhibitions – for foods and beverages in June and for travel and tourism in October this year. BCCI undertook to inform its members of these opportunities.

During the meeting it was emphasized that BCCI and Taiwan Trade Center, Sofia have been cooperating successfully for the promotion of economic relations between the two countries.
