Ingrid Shikova, Chairperson of the Euroclub at BCCI – Europe is a state of mind
“Europe of solidarity and/or Europe of selfishness?” was the theme of the second public debate held in the National Assembly as part of the initiative “European Talks in the Parliament”. Special guests of the event were Ms. Kristalina Georgiva, European Commissioner responsible for international cooperation, humanitarian aid and crisis response, and Mr. Daniel Gros, Director of the Center for European Policy Studies.
Ms. Ingrid Shikova, Chairperson of the Euroclub at BCCI, the President of BCCI Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov and Ms. Beata Papazova, Advisor on European integration and projects at BCCI took part in the debates.
In her speech, Ms. Shikova reminded that Europe is not only contracts and contracted solidarity; Europe is a state of mind. She underlined that it is still significant that we describe EU membership in bright colours only, without emphasizing on responsibility. We have talked very little of the responsibilities stemming from our membership.
