Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry presides over the Association of Balkan Chambers



In the period 15 – 17 March 2012 in Nicosia, the general assembly of the Association of Balkan Chambers (ABC) will be held. The meeting will be hosted by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Representatives of the national chambers and unions of Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Cyprus, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro will participate in the meeting.

In 2011 the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held the presidency of ABC. At the end of last November, the presidency of ABC for 2012 was passed on to the Chairman of Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry Phidias Pilides.

Issues related to problems and promotion of female entrepreneurship will be discussed at the opening day of the event in the capital of Cyprus.

The role of chambers of commerce and industry in times of crisis and economic difficulties will also be discussed. The priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2012 are expected to be presented.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov will participate in the meeting and will introduce his colleagues to a new website of the Council of Women Entrepreneurs with ABC, recently developed by BCCI.

The Association of Balkan Chambers was established in 1994 on the initiative of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It brings together the national chambers of commerce of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro and Turkey.
