Meeting with the President of the Karachay–Cherkessia Chamber of Commerce and Industry at BCCI
On 19 April 2012, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Karachay–Cherkess Republic, Vladimir Anatolievich Abitov met with the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov. The Karachay–Cherkess Republic is a federal subject of the Russian Federation. It is located on the north slope of Greater Caucasus and is part of the South Federal District and the Volga Economic Region. The population of the Republic is around 478 thousand people, of which 137 thousand live in the capital city Cherkessk.
Mr. Abitov presented the economy of the Republic, which is based mainly on agriculture – cattle breeding (mostly sheep and horses) and plant growing (sugar beet, corn, sunflower, wheat).
The region has expressed interest in equipment and technologies for fur processing, food products, and cooperation in the field of energy. Besides, citizens of the Karachay–Cherkessia Republic are interested in buying real property along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
Around 10 000 companies are operating in the Republic.
Mr. Simeonov presented the potential of the Bulgarian economy and outlined some of the opportunities for bilateral cooperation. The parties agreed to exchange information actively and to look for Bulgarian companies with specific proposals for cooperation with partners from the Karachay–Cherkessia Republic.
