BCCI marked the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers









 


On the occasion of 28 April – the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers
, the Secretary General of BCCI Vasil Todorov attended the wreath laying ceremony at the memorial of workers killed in occupational accidents in front of the headquarters of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, in Sofia. “Each year employers stand beside us on this day”, said the President of the Confederation Plamen Dimitrov. 

 


Members of Parliament, representatives of agencies and trade unions participated in the ceremony. The memory of workers killed in occupational accidents was commemorated with a minute of silence.

 


More than 1700 Bulgarians remained disabled after work-related accidents in the last 22 years. Around 3000 occupational accidents occurred in total, the trade union leader pointed out.

 


The International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers – 28 April, has been marked since 2003 in more than 100 countries. Annually, more than 150 million people worldwide suffer accidents at work, concluded Mr. Dimitrov.
