Meeting of the Euroclub at BCCI to support the candidature of Sofia for European Cultural Capital 2019

The latest meeting of the members of the Euroclub at BCCI was dedicated to the candidature of Sofia for European Cultural Capital in 2019.

The organizers from the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and Sofia Development Association had invited more that 30 representatives of the diplomatic corps. The Mayor of Sofia Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova was the main speaker of the event and presented the candidature of Sofia for this prestigious European award as well as what has been done in this line and the upcoming projects before Ambassadors and Charge d’Affairs of foreign embassies in Sofia, commercial counselors, representatives of various ministries, companies, sectorial organizations and members of the Board of Directors of the BCCI.

The participants were welcomed by Mr. Tomislav Donchev, Minister for European Union Funds Management, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI and the Chairperson of the Euroclub at BCCI Mrs. Ingrid Shikova. H.E. Kaare Janson, Ambassador of Denmark to Bulgaria spoke about the European capitals of culture and the road to success.

The event was accompanied by the opening of a photo exhibition “The Spirit of Sofia”. Its authors Georgi Velichkov and Boni Bonev displayed an exhibition which reflects modern Sofia 130 years after it was officially announced capital of Bulgaria.
