The newly appointed Bulgarian Ambassador to Argentina visited BCCI

On 10 May, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Argentina Maxim Gaytandzhiyski visited BCCI and met with the BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov. Ambassador Gaytandzhiyski has had previous experience on the South American continent and in his new position will also be responsible for Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.

The guest was introduced to the activities of the Chamber and the services it provides to Bulgarian and foreign companies. BCCI’s cooperation with partners from Argentina dates back to 1979. Regrettably, it turned out that only one company with Argentinean capital has been entered in the Trade Register of the BCCI.

Ambassador Gaytandzhiyski readily offered to assist entirely Bulgarian-owned companies willing to explore the South American market.

Trade between Bulgaria and Argentina has been developing unevenly. Measured in absolute terms, it has seen a steady growth but with a negative balance for our country.

In 2011 bilateral trade amounted to nearly USD 100 million, and a growth of 107.07% as compared to previous year was reported.

During that period, the commodity structure of bilateral trade remained generally unchanged. Mineral or chemical nitrogen fertilizers contributed most significantly to Bulgarian exports to Argentina – 70.6 %, followed by photographic plates – 7.9%, roller and needle bearings – 6.2%, raw or unmanufactured tobacco and tobacco refuse – 2.3 % and other products in limited quantities.
