BCCI is one of the co-founders of an Industrial Forum. The Chamber signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Establishment of the Forum yesterday during the 10th Jubilee International Exhibition of Defense and Security Equipment “Hemus – 2012”. 

The Minister of Defense Anyu Angelov attended the constituent meeting of the Industrial Forum, together with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, the Ministry of Interior, Bulgarian Defensive Industry Association, companies, business associations, scientific and research centers.

The main goal of the initiative is to create the most suitable mechanism for reliable and continuous dialogue, and exchange of information and expertise between the state authorities, business and the research and technology entities in the field of defense and security. The Industrial Forum is the first concrete step towards creating a new medium in which the Strategy for Development of Bulgarian Defense and Technology Industrial Base, adopted earlier on 30 May by the Council of Ministers, would function. 

The Forum’s goal is to help industry develop investment programmes based on new technologies. Thus, Bulgarian companies will be able to easily join the European market and will improve their access to countries outside the EU. Maximizing the economic benefits of planned defense expenditures is another expected outcome of the work of the Industrial Forum.

The co-founders of the Forum agreed that stable partnership between the state and the defense industry is important for maintaining and constructing the necessary defense facilities. The Industrial Forum is established and will function voluntarily, it is open for all representatives of the security and defense sector – administration, industry, research and technology entities and sectorial organizations.
