The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the former Secretary General of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) Mr. Antonio Penalosa with an Honorary Diploma for his personal contribution. The award was presented by the Secretary General of BCCI Vasil Todorov, who is taking part in the current session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva.
BCCI’s diploma is granted for increasing the awareness and coordination in the actions and positions of the Association of the Organizations of Bulgarian Employers (AOBE) and the International Organization of Employers.
Mr. Penalosa actively cooperated for the protection of the interests of Bulgarian employers and raising the prestige of AOBE in compliance with the international principles.
Earlier in Geneva, the Secretary General of BCCI Vasil Todorov met with the newly-elected Secretary General of the IOE Brent Wilton. Mr. Wilton extended his full support of BCCI’s position and expressed readiness to provide full logistic support in case the dispute about the representativeness of Bulgarian employers’ organizations is referred to the IOE.
In the course of discussion it was once again emphasized that only internationally accepted criteria should be taken into account when deciding about the representativeness of employers’ organizations. It was also pointed out that the Chambers of Commerce that meet these criteria are among IOE’s most active members. Each restriction of the representative rights of employers’ organizations is a serious violation of international norms.
