Delegation from Morocco visited BCCI









 
Business delegation from the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat, Morocco visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 4 July 2012. BCCI organized business meetings between Bulgarian and Moroccan entrepreneurs with the assistance of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Sofia. 
The event was opened by the BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov, who stressed that Bulgarian – Moroccan bilateral relations are excellent but the economic potential has not been fully realized yet. Positive results in bilateral trade were achieved in 2008, when trade turnover with other countries was also high. Bulgaria and Morocco are not very rich in natural resources, but should make use of their strategic location. Mr. Simeonov said that Bulgaria is a center of stability in the region and offers very favourable business climate, low taxes, low labour costs, etc. 
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco in Sofia H.E. Mrs. Aziza Limame welcomed the participants and said that the two countries have excellent political relations. Last year, the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations was celebrated. Ambassador Limame expressed hope that such meetings would further promote and develop the economic relations.
Omar Derraji, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat expressed readiness to continue the cooperation with BCCI in compliance with the agreement signed between the two chambers in 2001. He explained that Morocco develops sectoral economy with strong strategic plans in the following sectors: tourism, agriculture, industry, sea fishing, new technologies, renewable energy. The North African country also relies on its geostrategic location, tourism resources, favourable conditions for the development of agriculture, as well as valuable human resources. In the course of discussion the experience of Morocco in the training of specialists from other French African countries was shared. Later those experts go on to have a career in third countries. 
Yuliyan Balchev, representative of Invest Bulgaria Agency made a presentation of Bulgarian economic and investment climate, and Mr. Tariq Agunzil, member of the Economic and Social Council of the Kingdom of Morocco reviewed Moroccan business environment. Moroccan companies trade freely with partners from the EU, USA, Turkey and a lot of Arabian countries on the basis of signed Free Trade Agreements. At present, FTAs are being negotiated with Canada, Cameroon and West Africa. The most promising sectors of Moroccan economy are the food industry, electronics, textile industry, automotive industry, aviation, tourism, IT, renewable energy, etc. 
The bilateral meetings between Bulgarian and Moroccan companies will continue in the coming days. Tomorrow the delegation from Morocco will visit Plovdiv in order to meet with colleagues from Plovdiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry and International Fair Plovdiv.
