BCCI hosted the second business forum Sofia – Taipei. The event was organized jointly with the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association and brought together 16 representatives of the business and public institutions in Taiwan and 40 Bulgarian businessmen.
Mr. Krasimir Dachev, Member of the Board of Directors of BCCI opened the forum and said that the easiest way to learn how to do business with partners from this part of the world is to visit and get to know it. He emphasized Bulgaria’s economic advantages as the closest EU Member State to Asia.
The leader of the Taipei delegation Mr. Fred Huang, Honorary Chairman of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry informed the participants that Taiwan seeks to achieve liberalization and globalization. He stressed that the economic cooperation agreement signed between the Republic of Taiwan and the People’s Republic of China in 2011 facilitates trade and makes Taiwan a gateway to China for foreign companies.
The Chairman of the Bulgarian – Taiwanese Group for Economic and Cultural Cooperation in the Bulgarian Parliament Mr. Dimitar Chukarski announced that the recently experienced visa problems have been resolved and the citizens of Taiwan can now enter the EU without a visa. He said that together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs they are working on the recognition of documents exchanged by companies on a daily basis.
The Representative of Taipei Representative Office in Athens, Greece Ms. Agnes Hwa-Yue Chen also welcomed the participants in the forum and expressed her satisfaction with the fact that 2 business delegations from Taiwan have visited Bulgaria since the beginning of the year and a third trip is on the way by late autumn. Bulgarian wines are about to be presented during the largest exhibition in Taiwan this month.
During the forum presentations of the “Economic and Investment Climate in Bulgaria” and “The Photovoltaic Market in Bulgaria” were made, as well as of the “Opportunities for a new generation of embedded mini computers and boards” and “How to stay in step with nature using solar energy”.
In compliance with the signed protocol, the third joint business forum will be held in Taipei next year. The forum continued with bilateral meetings.
